Welcome to the WURFL the Wireless Universal Resource File
by Luca Passani

So... What is WURFL?
The WURFL is an XML configuration file which contains information
about capabilities and features of many mobile devices.
The main scope of the file is to collect as much
information as we can about all the existing mobile devices that access
WAP pages so that developers will be able to build better applications and
better services for the users.
This project is open-source and is intended for developers working with the
WAP and Wireless. All the information listed here has been collected by
many different people from many different countries. You are allowed to
use WURFL in any of your applications, free or commercial. The only thing
required is to make any modification to this file public, following the
original spirit and idea of the creators of this project. This will help
WURFL to grow better and better every day.
Of course, a disclaimer is due here:
There is no guarantee of any kind
that any of the info in the WURFL is correct. All the information has been gathered
by collecting reports from users and developers around the globe.
On the other hand, WURFL is deployed at carriers and portals around the globe.
Developers from around the world send us device info on a daily basis.
To add to that, we import data from UAProf profile and manually fix the
UAprof data that we discover to be
wrong. In terms of adoption, WURFL is today more popular than pure UAProf solutions.
If you find the WURFL useful, feel free to use it and contribute
to future development.
You can read more about the requirements and the evolution of the WURFL
so far in the 'About WURFL' section.
You can post any noteworthy modification and/or comment on the
WMLProgramming mailing list on Yahoo Groups:

Alternatively, you can email your modification to the Luca Passani, the WURFL maintainer, at passani at eunet dot no.
Please read the Contribute Device Info before sending your updates.
